    Experimental Amateur Radio HF Antennas
    22 May 17
I am using this stuff for homebrewed Low Band High Frequency Antennas for my Amateur Radio Station . It is very affordable compared to other often used alternatives. It is very easy to work with and has much less memory or spring than copperweld , it is much lighter and long runs hang better than both copper weld or stranded type wire. It has no insulation, better constant velocity factor, less capacitance., a tad more resistance (good thing for loading up RF) . Its cheap cheap cheap. You can afford to experiment and build many temporary big antennas without worry. However the one tradeoff is it will stretch and it can easily fatique and break off in the wind when strung upon the upper outer branches of trees that are prone to movement. If you are careful, I have had a large 160 meter fullwave loop last at least a year and it is pulled tight almost like a guitar string. The trick is using plastic laundry pulleys for insulators and attach with a lanyard that terminates with a spring. I use this wire also as twin feedline using dogbone insulators. Dont kink this wire and your ok! Rhombic or Sterba Curtain on the cheap? Anyone? Anyone? LETS BUILD A BIG SKYHOOK OR HOOKUP TO A BALLOON ! Remember its lighter than anything else.
