Description
ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 19TH CENTURY STERLING SILVER RIBBON BELT WITH LARGE BUCKLE. THERE ARE NO MARKINGS ON THIS PIECE BUT I BELIEVE THAT IT IS STERLING SILVER, UNFORTUNATELY MY JEWELER IS CLOSED AT THE MOMENT. IN REPEATING LINKS OF ALTERNATING OPENINGS AND SCROLL WORK PANELS, OPENINGS ARE FOR WEAVING RIBBON THROUGH. A LARGE SILVER AND GOLD TONE BUCKLE CLOSES THE FRONT. NO MARKS AS TO THE MAKER, NO FLAWS FOUND. MEASURES ONE AND A HALF INCHES IN THE WIDTH OF THE BELT AND 25 IN END TO END. THESE ARE ALWAYS SMALL AS THE WEARERS WORE TIGHT CORSETS, A STERLING LINK COULD BE ADDED AT EACH SIDE OR IN THE CENTER REAR TO EXTEND.
