Awe as Man Manages to Film the Top of Plane: ‘How the Hell Did You Do That’

A video showcasing a one-of-a-kind plane spotting experience at Hong Kong International Airport has gone viral on TikTok.
The clip posted by user @kingmstrll16 offers a glimpse of an aircraft passing beneath a glass floor as a man walks across the Sky Bridge, a glass footbridge that provides travelers with a direct view of planes moving below. Since it was shared a week ago, the video has garnered over 582,000 views.
The captivating footage was shared with a caption saying, “Don’t miss this experience!”
The viral post comes as air travel continues to grow in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era. In November 2023, global total air traffic was reported to be at 99.1 percent of November 2019 (pre-pandemic) levels, according to an International Air Transport Association report in January.
According to an August report by the lATA, total passenger demand in July was up 8 percent compared with the same month in 2023.
Travel is expected to reach “record highs” this year, with global tourism spending forecast to hit U.S. $2 trillion, as noted in a December 2023 survey by Euromonitor International, the market research firm.
The Sky Bridge, described as the “world’s longest airside bridge,” opened in November 2022 at Hong Kong International Airport.
Spanning 200 meters long (around 656 feet) and 20 meters wide (about 65.6 feet), the footbridge is equipped with escalators, an automated walkway, and expansive glass exteriors.
According to the airport’s website, the Sky Bridge offers “the highest viewpoint of the airport for passengers,” with a panoramic view that extends across the bustling runways and taxiways.
The highlight for many visitors is the glass floor, which allows for an unparalleled experience of watching aircraft taxi directly beneath their feet.
The Sky Bridge has quickly become a must-see attraction for both frequent flyers and plane spotters. The experience combines architectural innovation with the thrill of aviation, making it a unique draw for travelers passing through the airport.
The extraordinary vantage point left TikTok viewers both amazed and puzzled.
TikTok user ThatOneGod.GT said, “How the hell did you do that????” Another user, Seb, said, “This is insane.”
User Gred praised the footage, saying, “Damn, nice shot!” while commenter Jepoy Onat Cayetano wrote, “Wow, nice view.”
Yellow aircraft 507 commented, “Amazing,” while JR described the moment as “Memories of a lifetime.”
